Ashby de la Zouch Castle
Ashby de la Zouch Castle started out as a manor house belonging to the Zouche family. In 1474 Lord Hastings obtained a licence to crenellate the property and added a curtain wall and large square tower. Not much remains of the curtain wall but enough of the tower still stands to allow access to the top from which you get a good view of the surrounding area. The tower and kitchen are connected by an underground passage that was probably created during the Civil War.
